RE: DC to AC converter

most likely you will need to get a pure sine inverter.

RE: fantasic fan while boon-docking.

what do you have for a battery bank? do you have any solar? will you be running a generator at all during the day for recharging batteries, or watching tv etc.?

RE: one month after warranty expires

lippert only manufactures the slide mechanism and trailer frame. they have nothing to do with the actual construction and/or seals. that is a manufacturer item.

RE: advice on tranny coolers

i would not suggest a larger pan. sure they take longer to heat up all that fluid, but they also take longer to cool it all down once it gets hot. i put in a max cool after market cooler and my tmps went from 200-210 pulling steep grades down to 170-180 on the same grades.

RE: 2000 F-350 SRW

he said it's a f350 i have over 263k on mine with no problems. i pull around 14-15K. some advice though, before pulling much weight put in a heavy duty trans cooler and a trans guage. the trans is pretty much bullet proof but the tc is the weak link.

RE: Kellog/Wallace,ID area

there is a campground at the crystal gold mine tour. nice place and clean. room for big rigs, and it's free. we stayed there for a week last summer. water at sites, but no power or sewer. a dump site is available on the premises. all the free firewood you want. nice shade trees. they like for you to go on the tour but it is not a requirement to stay there. they are very nice people. http://www.goldmine-idaho.com/

RE: Overdrive question

towing in overdrive is fine as long as it's not "hunting" for gears. when it starts shifting a lot on hills and what not, just pop it out of overdrive till you hit the top.

RE: tuners for 07 f350 6.0 td ?????

absolutely do NOT use a super chips tuner with that kind of weight. try www.powerhungryperformance.com Bill has been custom tuning trucks for years, he knows his stuff. he did my 6 position chip for $329. these are custom tunes specifically for your truck and pcm, not some off the shelf garbage.

RE: Converter went out....inexpensive recommendations?

checkout http://www.bestconverter.com/9200-Series_c_84.html they list a 45 amp w/charge wizard for $163.50 or a 60 amp for $193.50 both are great prices, and the charge wizard is great to have. no more cooked batteries.

RE: Anybody in Q now or recently.

Plomosa rd area area still has quite a bit of room, high jolly is getting pretty crowded. the ltva's still have tons of room. so, elbow room shouldn't be an issue. BTW, the show starts on the 17th.

RE: Edge chip question...

it should be mounted in the driver side exhaust manifold just before it turns.

RE: Banks ECONOMIND diesel tuner

what engine? don't waste time with a banks tuner on a psd. custom tuned chips do much better for the psd.

RE: Transmission Trouble in Mexico

try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes and see if it fixes the problem. i have seen this happen before and resetting the pcm took care of it. no guarantees, but it doesn't cost anything to try it.

RE: Just got a call - they damaged our new truck in transit!

what it really comes down to is your preference in a vehicle. i prefer ford, others prefer something else. for me, chebby is too much like a car, dodge is just too plain. if i could get the cummins in a ford truck, that would be the perfect tow vehicle in my opinion. any of the big 3 will do a fine job for you.

RE: Dual Batteriers Melted My Charger

the batteries are wired together in parallel anyway, so unless you connected the charger backwards it shouldn't matter.

RE: Gas vs Diesel/ better gas mileage??

with that size of a coach, and pulling a toad to boot, you may be dissapointed with a gasser after having had a diesel. not saying the gasser won't do well, just saying the diesel will do better, in power and mileage.

RE: want to charge batteries faster

the PD9200 series has the built in 3 stage charge wizard with desulfate mode also, and it does NOT taper off in the bulk stage, it will charge up to 90% SOC at the full rated amps at 14.4 volts before switching to float mode which is 13.6. i have the PD9280 in my 5ver and the PD9245 in my cargo, and they both work great. bestconverter.com seems to have about the best price (they also carry xantrex and a few others) or ebay has some factory refurb with full warrenty for a fraction of the price.

RE: On Board Generator (off season)

if in a humid climate it's a good idea to run it every few weeks to operating temp to keep the moisture out of the windings. being propane, it is not subject to the same fuel issues and varnish problems as a gas engine. if there is no humidity where it is being stored then i wouldn't worry about it.

RE: generators mounted on 5ers

I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done as long as there is sufficient clearance there so the generator doesn't hit the truck bumper when turning. You would want to rubber mount it so it doesn't vibrate the trailer too much, since presumably you will be trying to sleep right above it. i do believe he is talking about putting it in the front storage compartment of the fifth wheel.
